I live in Northwest Indiana with my wonderful husband and 2 cats. Mother of a 28 year old daughter, grandmother of 2 boys, ages 21 months and 4. Stepmom to 2 boys, ages 21 and 24. Avid gardener, reader, writer, and maker of jewelry since I was a teen!

How did you get to where you are now?

The hard way! I struggled with depression for most of my life, but thanks to counseling and meds, I am finally able to be the person I was meant to be.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

Ten years ago I was an emotional wreck, having post-traumatic stress disorder after a series of horrible events (the death of one brother from brain/lung cancer, watching another brother battle colon cancer, many serious health issues of my own, and finally, being abandoned by my husband). I attempted suicide, and that led me to get the help I needed. Now, though there are still many challenges in my life, I am better able to cope and feel happy for the first time in my life!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully, still happy! (And better off financially, once I finally get my finances back in order.) A serene, contented 60-something with a lot of love to share.

Your beautiful self in your 50's

My daughter is my role model! She has battled bipolar disorder since she was a teen, much of the time without health insurance, so no meds. She is the strongest person I know. After divorcing her drug-addicted husband, my daughter now works 2 jobs to support her two young sons and keep her small but lovely apartment. She is doing it, all alone and with little help from her ex! (Plus, she gives me great fashion advice.)
