I'm 59-years-old -- a breast cancer survivor (mets to lungs & bones)...I go every 12 weeks for treatments at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando. I wrote a play titled Chemonologues, a play about cancer survivors. I received a professional development grant from United Arts of Central Florida in 2008 and a play reading was held at Theatre Downtown in Orlando on March 9, 2010. This was challenging for me especially since it is so different from what I did professionally -- a journalist who specialized in feature writing and also did public relations. However, it has been a great "tool" to get me back in front of a keyboard writing again. I am now writing a book titled "High Maintenance .. Surviving Cancer at All Costs. I have two young adult children - both very involved in creative endeavors - theater, performance art, filmmaking, etc. My daughter was married on January 1, 2011. Currently, I am very involved as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Sanford & Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the American Diabetes Association's Step Out for Diabetes.
