Maryl

My Blog Circle:

Maryl, with her co-founder Caryl, launched www.SecondLivesClub.com in 2010. The co-founders and lifelong friends realized as they approached a milestone birthday, they were ready for a new life--a second life-where they are front and center. SecondLivesClub addresses subjects from style to spirituality, from culture to careers, from health to happiness. In their first lives, Maryl was a digital marketing executive at AT&T, IBM and British Telecom; Caryl was a magazine editor at Money. Life, InStyle and Real Simple. Combining their skills and passions, they began the blog to help women approaching 50 and beyond create the life they were meant to live. A second life is the one where you understand yourself fully, where you feel comfortable in your own skin and where you connect meaningful to others and the world around you. Whether at home, work or play, a second life means living consciously, gracefully, actively toward the destiny. Come join the club and make the best of the rest!

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?
In my first life I was a daughter, sister, student. I was the first in my family to go to college, traveled half- price with my “12 to 21” card (anyone remember that?), spent my sophomore summer abroad, communed at Woodstock and marched on Washington DC against the war. I joined the workforce as a video producer and then was part of the female invasion of corporate America. I’ve directed documentaries, produced advertising and represented some of the first major brands (like AT&T and IBM) to jump on the internet. I became a mother when my husband and I traveled to Russia to pick up our then three-year-old daughter. Since then I’ve been orphaned, downsized out of three (count ‘em) corporations and become an embarrassment to my teenage daughter. I'm ready to move forward….becoming an entrepreneur, exploring the world (Buenos Aires and Vietnam next), starting this blog with my college friend. I’ve got my passport and my password for my second life. Please join us at: http://secondlivesclub.com/
