I lost my husband of 49 plus years about 18 months ago.  In an attempt to move on, I let some friends talk me into running for mayor.  Long story short, I'm Now a newly elected mayor of a small town in southernmost Illinois.  I had attempted to enter the political arena some years ago.  I lost two attempts at councilwoman, one attempt at county commissioner.  I understand from history that Abe Lincoln took several attempts also.  I have no desire to run for president. Ha!

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

I've stayed active in my community since I moved back here twenty years ago.  My husband and I raised our children to think independently.  I'm exceedingly proud of each of them.  This is to say that my children no longer me watching of them and it has freed me for my own pursuits.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

I wasn't a widow ten years ago.  I had a very loving husband who doted on me!  He encouraged my writing.  I finished one book and published it.  It was a grand experience.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I still plan to be active, but not particularly in politics.  I'll probably go back to writing.

a postcard to my younger self

I'm very proud of you, but you should have paid more attention to your health and weight.
