my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

I grew up in a trailer in South Georgia.  My work experience as a teenager was babysitting and picking cotton & pecans.

I did go to a small state college.  And then I started my career at the bottom as a entry level clerical worker.

I worked hard and climbed the ladder one rung at a time.  Did I mention I worked hard -- very hard?  I worked harder than most.  I'm smart--but not smarter.  I'm just more determined and worked at it more.  When people play victim and moan about how the deck has been stacked against them, I just shake my head.  I have found that is too often an excuse from people who don't want it badly enough to change their bad choices and destructive patterns.

It is my opinion that success is achieved in thirds:  1/3 luck, 1/3 hard work, and 1/3 making good choices.  It takes some of each.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

I'm stronger, more confident.  I have more faith in my survival skills.  I know I'm a problem solver, and I know that I won't let little things get in my way or stop me.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Retired....I hope.  Living in the southeast, amidst pine trees and hills.

my role models

None really.  I've always been self contained.

This makes my blood boil.  This attitude and sense of “eff you” by a segment of the US populace is why so many of us are revolting about entitlement programs.  Because…
