my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?
I have been a work in progress for some time now. I am a self-taught artist, even though I hesitate to say that. My learning has come about because many other artists who have come before me are so willing to share their techniques, philosophies and experiments in art. I have learned so much from books, blogs and YouTube videos. My heartfelt thanks to everyone in the art and craft community for everything they contribute.
How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?
I am 57 years old..soon to be 58. I appreciate the simple, everyday things in life so much more than I did when I was younger, I have learned to slow down. The other day I was rocking on the back porch in my wicker chair just watching my 2 year old grandson play in the dirt with his cars...that's all I was doing. I wasn't reading a book, sending a text message or thinking about the dishes in the sink. It was a wonderful feeling to have a clear mind and just enjoy the moment. Ten years ago I probably couldn't have done that .... I would have missed this moment.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Art and creativity are very important to me. I will still be doing art of some kind and experimenting with different types of art and craft. I recently began teaching art classes and really enjoy sharing one-on-one with my students. Hopefully I can expand on that ...possibly write another book. I trust my path...if I just keep participating, learning, being open to new ideas and people... my life in 10 years will be exactly what it should be...and I will look back and be amazed!

a postcard to my younger self

Don't take yourself too seriously, in the end most of what you worry about doesn't come about and if it does you will learn so much from it. The value in your mistakes may not emerge for many, many years.
