My Blog Circle:

After a series of careers ranging from welfare caseworker to librarian to newspaper reporter, I'm happily writing creative nonfiction and working on my first novel. My memoir, Off Kilter, was published in 2008 by Pearlsong Press. It is available from Amazon or through the publisher at www.pearlsong.com.

I teach memoir workshops in beautiful Bucks County, PA, at senior centers, retirement villages, and writers' conferences and started a journal writing group for low income teenage girls.

I also speak to groups about the healing power of writing.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

Everything I've learned, every job I've had, has added up to the store of resources I use to write about life as I see it. I've been a caseworker, librarian, wife (twice), mother (also twice), friend, aunt, daughter, teacher, reporter. Nothing is a waste, no matter how it turns out.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

In the time since I turned fifty, I learned to create my own happiness. Instead of a victim, I see myself as a survivor and active participant in my own story.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In Provence, celebrating 30 years of marriage with my wonderful husband! Now that our son is in college, we plan to  travel to the places we've read about.

I'm planning to continue writing and teaching, and hope to have another book or two published.

Relax, honey. It's not your fault and you don't have to suffer. There is no right answer. Just breathe and pay attention.

Six Million Stories in the Cheesesteak City

I like to see inside other people’s houses. At dusk, when the lights go on inside and I pass by, I can see their furniture, where the kitchen is, and even where they put the TV. Lucky for me, I found a socially acceptable way to channel that curiosityread more »

Where’s my coffee????

Yes, I know that coffee leaches calcium from my already brittle spine and hip, the parts of my skeleton with osteoporosis. The parts I spend $$ for a weekly drug to keep the disease from progressing. Why, you may ask, am I canceling out the drug's effects?read more »
