"I was born in the wagon of a traveling show...." well not exactly, but I did grow up with that music.   I am stretching the last days of my fifties like the mother of 6 with 5 pieces of candy.   Born, raised and educated in Queens NY, I am sure I have accomplished something, I am just not sure what that would be.

Happy - reaosonable.   Successful - not to the degree I had imagined in my youth.  Single and have been for more years than I was married.

I know who I am but I often don't know what I want - thank goodness for the buffets in life because if I had to select from the menu, I'd starve.

I like people.  I read Tarot Cards.  (I am an intuitive reader.)  I offer workshope on personal empowerment and stress reduction.  I love gardening and cooking.  I read - I write a little.  I take a photograph here and there that I feel has sufficient emotional motivation to be classified as a work of art.

Anything else  .... well if you have questions, just ask.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

I made a left off Main Street and wound up on a dirt road that took me to no where .... but delivered me to paradise.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

My knees hurt a little more .... I am less worried about a relationship and more interested in friendships .... although the personal aspects of a relationship have not slipped from my memory --- I'm available.

I am more focused on being happy now than ever before.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope, sitting on my swing chair on the porch of my house in the mountains, wondering whether I will live long enough to see that seedling develop a large trunk and remembering when I wondered the same thing about the birch up front.

PS I have two swing chairs.... one's available!

a postcard to my younger self

Wake Up! Wake Up! Your 25 and you think you're old ....you're 35 and you think your old. (Well every guy is looking for a woman in her 30's.)  You're 40 ... don't admit it ... geeze where did 10 years go?  What was your focus? 50 ... thank goodness everyone is focusing on the turn of the century.   Don't waste another moment ....  59 can't be.  Nine years since the last time you looked back ... only a few months until you are no longer 50 something .... wake up wake up wake up.

my role models

Pretty boring people .... My mother's aunt who taught me to do many of the domestic things that make me amazing in the kitchen.

An English teacher in college who showed me my amazing creative side.

A younger lover when I was 40 who took 20 years off my life, and convinced me I was an amazing lover. (That was until he mentioned that his father had told him that people were crying in the streets when JFK got shot ... I realized that that news happened the year he was born.)

Maybe me - I'm old enough to have had learned from my own mistakes and enough to know I will be blessed with the ability to make more and finally, that reflection in the mirror talks back, saying "You may not be perfect but you're damn amazing!"
