My Blog Circle:

I am a writer, editor and journalist who is deeply committed to helping to change how older women are perceived in North America, and to dispeling the stigma around aging. Toward that end, I have came up with the concept of a dating site that celebrates the inherent eroticism and intelligence of the older woman, and am working with two incredible men to build it. We are not interested in the cougar stereotype but rather, the authentic older woman. There is a sensuality and a wisdom about older women that younger women can only dream of, and luckily, there is a significant pool of men out there who “get” it. We want to tap into that, and will hopefully be launching later this year.

In the meantime, I want to do what I can to help stimulate, inspire or encourage public discussion, on a national level, that helps to change attitudes around aging for the better. I produce and host a radio program, Being There, on campus radio, featuring in-depth interviews on a wide range of subjects. And as a writer, I specialize in being able to articulate with eloquence exactly what a person is trying to say but cannot find the right words for - a form of ghostwriting, but much more than that. I do web sites, book projects, BIOs, resumes and much more.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

It took me a long time to find my niche, even though I have been practicing elements of it my entire life. I'm not sure how I got where I am, as I spent many years confused, frustrated and lost. But it seems to me that most things do happen for a reason, and the older I get, the more I am grateful for what I have, and how my experiences brought me to this place. I spend far less energy on things that just don't matter, and am seriously thinking about what mark I want to leave in this world, what my real values are, and how to live in accordance with them.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

In a nutshell, I am much more balanced and realistic in my view of myself. I see myself much more clearly (often more than I'd prefer) and am kinder to myself than I used to be.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

A major advocate for the voices and strengths of the older woman, with a focus on my writing.
