I am a 60 year old divorced mother of 2 and Grandma of 5. I live in an apartment with two loving feline companions who teach me more about unconditional love than people ever could. I still work full-time although not at a job I love getting up for 5 days a week. I dream of retirement ... if I can ever afford it!

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

By making a whole lot of mistakes and not listening to my heart. I have been married and divorced twice which has put me where I am now financially, but I find it more important that all the setbacks have put me where I am spiritually and emotionally now and that is priceless. I like who I am now.l

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

I am more in tune with who I am and what I want. I do not spend time on things that don't make me happy (except work but that's about financial security, not personal happiness, at least for the present). I spend a great deal of time reading and studying on spirituality, compassion, Mother Earth, and as much time as I can playing with my grandkids.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years I hope to be retired and able to devote my time to those things that bring me pleasure, challenge me and make me a better person. I like to write and would like to pursue that more seriously - not for fame or fortune but for personal fulfillment. I love to read and will probably do alot of that as well. I also have friends and family all over the country and would like to travel to see them all and discover this beautiful America I live in.

a postcard to my younger self

Dearest Barb,

The world is such a beautiful place if you remember to look beyond the fog of ignorance and intolerance and see in the light of love and spirit. Look to the grandmothers, the ancient ones, for guidance. Listen to nature, to the animals and the trees, the waters and the wind. The secret to happiness is in their song. Listen to you heart and follow your own path even if others try to discourage you. Find you center and live from that place. It is your true home.     Me
