RLKMCD

DOB 3/21/1945, with a streak of stubborn a mile wide.

Born in Chicago, then moved to the suburbs with my family at age ten. Didn't like it. First paying job at age eleven, hoarded my money until I had enough to buy a round trip train ticket and went to Chicago. Back then a kid could do that and be relatively safe. Grammar school and high school. I liked learning. Married at age seventeen. Ignored everyone who said it wouldn't last. Still laughing. It lasted.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

I owe most of it to that wide streak of stubborn I mentioned above in the bio section. Told I'd never walk again and said watch me. Walked again.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

More grey hair. Ten years ago thanks to a fractured spine, I couldn't walk. Made up my mind that I would. Had the surgery and went through some tough rehab. I walk.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

At least one of my novels will be published. Otherwise, I'll be right here. When I put down roots they go deep.

a postcard to my younger self

2. Do not, repeat, do not, agree to take over the family business!!!!!

3. If you do the second one on the list anyway, fire the former owner's accountant...IMMEDIATELY.

cougar as an insult

Why is it that a mature woman with a younger man is called a cougar (a kind of predatory animal) and a mature man with a younger woman is envied? How about if…

It used to be called recycling.

For those who still sew, especially quilters; I was raised in the days when the words ”use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without” were engraved on every mother’s forehead.…
