Evie

I was born, what seems like, 100 years ago! I feel like I have "reincarnated" several times in this lifetime!

I have been married twice and the second time around is a "keeper". :)

I have two grown sons who live far away! We are still close in our hearts!

I have had many, many,  friends/acquaintances in my life, but have lost track of most of them...moving, name changes, etc.

I live in the southeast where it is suppose to be warm, but we have been in the 'single digits' recently.

I have not quite retired since I do help my husband with a small business he started. We are still "working stiffs".

We have two very beautiful Persian cats, Basco and Marsh. They are our 'furry babies' and are very affectionate...for cats! Lol

We live on a lake surrounded by nature...geese, ducks, hawks, and a variety of other birds and animals. I feed all of them!

My hobbies are drawing,  painting (mostly oils), reading...a lot!, crocheting, writing,  homemaking...I love my home atmosphere!, I love candles, mirrors and incense! Lol

Life is good...hectic, at times, but good!

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

Choices, either conscious or unconscious choices!

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

Well, I have remarried and my 'new' husband affects my life quite a bit. Husbands tend to do that. :) My guy is a computer 'whiz kid' and has taught me how to use one. I still have some difficulty with it all. Let's say, I struggle with navigating my way around in cyberspace. :) I am a 'right brained' artist!

I feel that I am more fulfilled in many ways. In some ways, though, I feel a little more "invisible". I think 'older women' can feel that way because they are not 'seen' by others to be interesting. Our country seems to recognize youth/beauty and older folk, women especially,  tend to blend into the background. For most of my younger years I felt that I was in the center of 'the hub' and now, I feel like I am on the outskirts. Lol!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Dead! No, no just kidding! Weird humor! But one never knows!

Well, anyway, I would like to see myself pretty much as I am now...maybe a little wiser AND THINNER! I have a good life.

I guess if I could hope for anything...that would affect my life, it would be that my sons lived closer by. I miss them!

a postcard to my younger self

Education! I floundered around a lot when I was in school. I never "knew 'what I wanted to be" when I grew up! I mean, I was grown up and still wondering this! I think the 'artist types', which I am one, are not as directed.

So, Evie...keep at it until you find your niche! Don't be afraid to ask questions about career possibilities! Don't feel like you have to get married, have children, have the house, the picket fence, etc. by the time you are 25! Don't get married until you are thirty and be in love with the man you marry! I didn't say love the man, I said be IN LOVE with the man! There is a huge quality difference here!

my role models

This will date me, hugely, but I loved Doris Day! I loved her voice, her looks, the way she walked, talked, her hair, eyes, expressions...just everything about her! I watched all of her movies, more than twice!Hr relationships with James Gardner and Rock Hudson, well this made me swoon! I am such a romantic!!! I know that they gave me somewhat of a 'Cinderella' outlook on life. I wanted my prince to dash me away on his white stallion! Carry me off to his castle, etc.

I loved the movies and in 'those days' we actually left feeling uplifted, encouraged about life. The films of today depict a troubled society and can be frightening, to say the least. I know that both types of films have their good/bad points, but I don't like the bad parts in today's movies. Depressing!

Have you lived with or are you living with a person with a personality disorder?

Recently I discovered the pervasiveness of “PD’s” in families. Studies are surfacing ...these disorders are rampant. Those of us in our fifties may have been born to a parent with PD or unknowingly, married one.read more »
