Kittie

I am 57, and am happier now as I get older than I have ever been in my life.  When I was younger, I was consumed by doing what I felt I was "supposed" to do.  Now, I do what I want to do, when I want to do it.  You know what?  The world has not fallen into ruin as a result of my decisions.  I have had an interesting career as a social worker and more recently as a Casino manager.  Corporate America did a number on me a few months ago when I, along with many others, was downsized.  I have since moved across country and am in the process of starting over.

I am attempting to pursue a career in photography as the art of producing photographs is a passion with me.  I would spend every waking moment with my camera if possible.

I am a good friend, a solid shoulder to lean on, and a soulmate to my husband of 10 years.  I am a loving parent to grown children and a "cool" grandma.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?

Downsized by my company.  My husband and I decided that it was time to do things for ourselves.  Our grown children do not really ask us for our opinion before they make life changing decisions so we did not ask them.  We moved from the cold midwest to the perpetually warm and sunny Gulf Coast of Florida.

How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

Ten years ago, I was coming off a long marriage.  After 25 years, my ex decided that he did not really want to be married anymore.  I was unsure of myself back then.  Did what I thought was expected of me and not necessarily what I wanted to do.  I said, "I'm sorry"......a lot.

Now, I come first.  I don't really worry about what strangers think of me.  My husband, of 9 years, and I are individuals who love each other.  We met online.  My friends and family thought I had lost my mind at that time.  They now realize how right the decision was.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Happy, and secure in my decisions.
