I am a widow -  52 years old and my husband of 30 1/2  years passed away January/09. I have three wonderful children all in their 20's. Last week  I found out the store that I have worked for - for over 2 years is closing by the end of Nov. Each day is a new challenge - I always try to find the good in situation but lately it is getting harder. The last three years have been a roller coaster of emotions - I am just looking for peace.

a postcard to my younger self

Oh my God are you in for a ride. Marriage will be nothing like you expected. Stand up for yourself more. Spend as much time as you can with your kids but realize when they have had enough. Always find time for yourself. Don't count on Phyllis (my Mom) or Jeff ( my brother) for anything. Pick a spouse that will also be your partner and will always have your back.
