I taught hight school art for 17 years. Let my job due to marriage , move and two babies. Lived in Minnesota for five years early years of kids. Moved back to Ohio as kids moved through elememtary and high school. Now daughter is married and son left for college out of state. We have a huge house and need to down size. I never returned to the classroom...although certainly tried year after year...realizing that school dont hire expeerienced art teacher or older teachers. I did return to school...to obtain certification in special education..but did not complete due to cost...and the belief or fear that my age would be a negative. Woud love to teach art again.. but will have to open my own school that doesnt discriminate against age or level of education. One would think that a MA in art ed with seventeen years of experience and additional work in special eduation and a minor in phsychology would be a solid resume. Right now I'm focusing on physical health, maintaining my art skills and enjoying the people in my life.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?: I read alot to strengthen my emotional self. I continue to apply for work...not that I have any offers..but I have to continue to hope that someone will see that I have work skills that are vaulable and give me a chance to work again.
How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?: Ten years ago I have kids busy in elementary school..being an older mom, at 60 kids have just left their home and started their adult lives. One is in college out of state and one is just recently married, has a one year old and is also in college. I'm different because, I know now that chances of working is slim and I'm going to have to be more creative in finding a way to work. I'm more interested in volumteering than 10 years ago. I tend to spend time with people that I really want to be around ...less willing to spend my time doing things with people who are not enjoyalbe.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?: In ten years....I have no idea...and I'm OK with that.

Forgive yourself for the past mistakes...no point in it. Take caare of yourself..exercise and add new experiences to enhase your life. Do art.
