From my first Vibrant Nation journal entry, My epiphany of simplicity:

My name is Sarah Gayle Carter. Ten years ago, I had my own design business. I designed custom rugs, furniture, and other home furnishings. Today, I'm an artist – a painter. I've essentially left my life as a designer behind, and instead I paint landscapes and dog portraits. Yes, you read that right: I paint dogs. And I actually believe I can support myself on a modest scale, painting. The most interesting thing about this, for me, is that this is what I want. I'm perfectly happy, not just conceding. Isn't that something?

The story of how I got here is a long one, and kind of circuitous. I write about it in my journal on Vibrant Nation.

So why quit now?

A Clothes Diet? Who me?

I ran across one of those little YouTube videos with this cute, young, very stylish looking girl talking about going on a "clothes diet." She and a friend cooked up a challenge, their way of attacking what seems to have become a culturally ingrained habit of more is better when it comes to our wardrobes. (And everything else for that matter, but let's just stick to the closet for the moment.)read more »

Project Pee

For the first time in my aesthetic, flower driven life, I decided to plant something edible. Organic. Just what Dr Joyce ordered. Hmmm….I'll start with tomatoes. Perfect. Queried about her wide open, fenceless, critter free garden, Dr Joyce replied, "Wolf urine."

Wolf urine?
