I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Seattle. My special areas of expertise lie with counseling those whose high intelligence, great talent, entrepreneurial or other success sets them apart. I am particularly interested in women's transitional phases, especially the personal transformation that often accompanies the time of the empty nest. My website is swensoncounseling.com. My professional blog -- Counseling in Challenging Times -- can be found at swensoncounseling.blogspot.com

I live in Seattle and am the mother of two daughters, both college graduates (one in law school, the other in the film industry). My background includes serving as a gallery educator (docent) at the Seattle Art Museum for eleven years. I am a member of MENSA.

On my computer is a children's fairy fantasy called The Wish Rocks by the River of Time in final edits. All the characters' names and personalities in this book derive from plants and minerals.

Jewelry design is my passion and favorite hobby. I also enjoy nature photography.

my VN interview

How did you get to where you are now?
I was born with certain gifts. I work hard to turn my gifts into talents and skills.
How do you see yourself differently now than you did 10 years ago?

You're kidding! I blinked and ten years went by?

a postcard to my younger self

Good things really do come to those who wait! But don't just stand there--do something! God helps those who help themselves, after all.
